I really like the post and the angle at which you’ve taken it. I find the background a bit distracting, though. Of course, with a fixed object like this, there’s not much you can do about that. Oh wait, aren’t you a Photoshop goddess? Maybe some Photoshop work to tone down the background would be nice.

Hmmm - that’s an interesting idea. I’d have to think about how I could do that. (Because I am so NOT a Photoshop goddess! LOL)
What f-stop did you use? I lower f-stop would take care of the background. Of course not all lenses open up enough…
It can be done in Photoshop. Use the magic want to select the hitching post and base, then invert the selection and use a Gaussian (sp?) blur effect on the selection.
