On Saturday, November 15th, Join The Impact organized protests in every state in the United States and across Canada. People came out to protest the passing of Proposition 8 in California (and similar ballot initiatives in other states – including Florida) and support gay rights.
I took my two kids to the event in Orlando.

For what it’s worth, I think it’s fantastic that you took them! When they’re old enough to understand, you can tell them about that day, and that even as children, their voices matter. Good for you!

I wanted to go to the protest in San Fran, but I couldn’t get anyone to cover my shift. Sigh.

And yeah – they will remember the experience, and the exposure, and that will stay with them. Also that their mom sticks up for what she believes in – I’d say that is awfully important!

Watching this video was a bit of a struggle for me and for the way I had to deal with my deep rooted emotions which, at times, conflict with my traditional Jewish upbringing. However, I think I can finally feel comfortable to express myself — now that I feel a kinship with one of your children who feels the same way that I do.
Because I, too, love Christmas. I wish I could hold up that sign alongside Emma this weekend.

Well now THAT’S odd! I never heard anything about a protest on denying gay people rights. And I live here in OKLAHOMA where they have voted for a Republican President in every election since 1968.
It’s odd that in this state, where we have A LOT of people to protest against… people who don’t want gay marriage because then they will start having all them gay kids in the school system… Yes, people too freakin stupid to know same sex unions can’t reproduce… We have many many many people we could protest against. Isn’t it odd how I never heard about a chance to do that on the commercial driven media outlets?

That was the dumbest thing you could do with your kids! I am so glad that the good people in my home State of Florida passed Prop 2, banning Gay Marriage! Since I now live in California, I was very happy to vote a resounding YES on PRop 8, also banning Gay Marriage.
Marriage was given to us by our Creator as a gift between male and female couples and for the foundation of the Family. Right now, over 30 States and counting have banned Gay Marriage. Awesome!

Let me be the first of many who would certainly not consider a family activity involving coming together with a community expressing equality and tolerance to all as “the dumbest thing you could do with your kids.”
The “dumbest thing you could do with your kids,” in my opinion, would be to discourage them from thinking critically and forming their own opinions and constructs of self.
Or, perhaps, putting them up as stakes in a poker game.

That’s so amazing. I actually got tears in my eyes watching the video because i find it so incredible and so fantastic that people are so willing to get out there and to teach their kids tolerance and love. Thank you.
