Do you know what is my biggest blogging pet peeve?
When people just randomly throw up pictures of their kids or family members or friends and are all “Oh, look! Isn’t So and So awesome?!?!” and you’re all “Uh… I guess you had to be there.”
Or what about when every parent on the freaking planet feels the need to do the blow by blow “You’ll never guess what WE did this weekend?!?!” on the Monday after a major holiday? I mean seriously, how many times can we be expected to say “Oh, wow, they have Halloween in Arizona too?!?! NO WAY!!”
GAH! I hate that! One day I’m going to breakdown and leave the comment we all really want to leave that says “this would only be interesting if I was your mother!”
I mean, do these bloggers really think random strangers give two craps about random pictures of random people in your life? Like you’re Brad freaking Pitt or something and “Oh my God! Look! Your kids walk up right too! Oooh!”
Don’t you just hate that? I know.

I can see that Becky’s not aware of the open container law in Florida.

LOL oh Devin makes THE best Harry Potter EVER!!!! I couldn’t wait to see these pictures because he IS so HP but these exceeded my expectations!

WOW! Your son looks just like Harry Potter! I like picture-filled posts.

Harry Potter is cool an all, but Emma’s costume is completely awesome
Reply
My kids are soooooo much better looking than Brad Pitt. GAH!
Heart this post.

Usually, I am the same. But that costume Emma is wearing is so fantastically amazing that I’m willing to overlook this transgression on your part. Seriously cool Halloween costume.

STOP posting those extremely cute pictures of your kids
Devin IS the cutest Harry Potter ever.
It’s a good thing someone said “Sully” because I was thinking Emma was a cute little blue furry thing.
Reply
guess you had to be there. WAIT! i WAS there. and it was awesome. although your photos are spectacular. way to capture those gorgeous kids. but couldn’t you have done something to make me look not like such a drunk trick or treating. hehe
adam, i know about open container laws. do you know about speed limits? ha!

Just the cutest Harry Potter I’ve ever seen… like the 8 commenters before me and the 50 afterwards will say. They both are really gorgeous.

Those costumes are so cute. Emma’s is adorable.
Reply
OMG the cuteness.
Reply
I love the fact that Emma is still happy to go out as a cute blue furry thing, she will want to go all sexy belly top and micro skirt a lot sooner than you’re prepared for…
I don’t have any pre-teen daughters. I just live next to a school.

I like photo posts. Awesome costumes.

Parent bloggers suck. But if that’s all they did, they wouldn’t be parents.
Now would we?
Reply
Hmmm…. I do that all the time. I guess I suck. Thank you for pointing that out.
I would, however, like to interject that I was NOT on of the dumbass masses that practically ran to TwitterRater to find out just how badly I sucked, only to find out it was something designed to steal my password. At least I don’t suck THAT much.
Thank you. Your kids look cute, by the way.

Your kids are adorable!! And your son? The most PERFECT Harry Potter!

I know you posted this with tongue firmly planted in cheek, but I actually used to recap my weekend every single Monday. Originally, it was because that was when I spent the most time with my daughter. But over time I realized exactly what you’re saying: unless something actually happened that was worth mentioning to someone other than family, there was no point.
With that being said, I’m guilty of posting with images of my son interspersed throughout the text, but it’s not my fault he’s so damn cute. (And actually people tend to say more about his pics than my posts… dunno what that says about my writing or my readers, though.)

I love the Sully costume! How you managed not to want to snuggle her all night I’ll never know.
Dude, to people give out beer to the grown ups?

What was with people trick or treating with liquor this year? I feel like I missed out!! Your kids are adorable.

You know, I went out trick or treating with my kids dressed as a pirate lady (or saucy wench, you decide) and I got offered a lot of candy, but no beer. I think it’s time to move!
Reply
Glad to see I’m not the only one who trick or treats with beer! I hate Halloween and trick or treating, must.have.alcohol.
Reply
I seriously don’t mind looking at the CUTE kids – it’s the ugly ones that bug me.
Haha!
They look awesome! Emma did not look thrilled in that first pic – I’m glad she had fun! She’s so cute! Devin’s the best Harry Potter – I love it!

I hate it when I post pictures.
Except when I do, cause my kids are the cuteness.

It took me a few minutes of looking at picture number two to figure out that he was Harry Potter. Yup. I kept thinking, man that lightening bolt looks familiar. Sorry but I never really bought into the Harry Potter craze. Either way, he looks really cute! And Emma? o.m.g. But she had to have been a sweaty mess at the end of the night.

Those parent bloggers are so self-absorbed.

I love seeing pictures of blogger’s kids. Some of them I have watched grow up and it’s almost like they are family.
I love the costumes!

Wait wait wait, Florida has an open container law and I was walking around with that drunkard all night? We could have all been arrested then Sully and Harry would have had to bail us out!
Kidding!
Seriously, is it wrong that I’m jealous that I don’t even have enough pictures to do a photo essay and not have to use words on my blog?
Reply
haha you’re kids are adorable. totally harry potter!

What a great post. This is cracking me up. I found you through Amy (Permission to Peruse; another hot blogger) and I can’t stop reading your stuff. Seriously, must get back to work … but can’t stop …

Heeeeee! I love Monster’s Inc. Great movie. I have the Sully doll with motion sensors and I used to put it right by the front door so whenever somebody walked in the house they’d get the fuck scared out of them. tee hee.
Of course I had to put it away after a while because everyone was on to me.
Your son looks like a very authentic Harry Potter. Sooooo adorable.
My son always wants to dress like a girl on Halloween. I’m not sure if that is a sign of things to come or what the hell. But there you go.

Okay, guess that means I can post more pictures of my dog?

I have to say that I am guilty of doing both – blogging with only photos of my kids and blow by blow blogging. But in my defense, I’m blogging for myself. If people don’t like to read that kind of blog, they can go away. :p

avitable: those laws don’t count when you’re in the Cool Neighborhood on Halloween. Believe me.
Britt’s Mom: uhh, mom? I sent you a link to the entire set about a week ago.
Sarah: I was pretty tickled with how his homemade costume turned out.
Amanda: it was a hand-me-down from her brother too.
OHmommy: hahahhaahaha
Dave2: I spent way too much money on it about 4 years ago for Devin, thinking it’d be the last time I’d get to force someone to do “cute and fuzzy” for Halloween.
Little Miss Sunshine State: hahahaha, yeah, it’s still a little big on her so it can be hard to tell.
hello haha narf: but you were so CUTE in that picture!
At least I didn’t post the video of you and Jared plotting to run away together.
Faiqa: thanks. They’ve got good genes I think.
Sarah: well we thought so – thank you.
lizriz: OK, I need 40 ways to say “thanks! my kids are awesome!” any ideas?
Kath: me. too.
Maria: well you’re in luck – WE HAVE PHOTOS!
always home and uncool: oh you are so witty today. And I got it right away! Really!
Blondefabulous: TWITTERRANK IS AWESOME!! hehehehehehe
By the way, you know this post was all tongue in cheek, right?
Dawn: thank you.
Mrs. Schmitty: you should hear his Patronus spell!
SciFi Dad: in all seriousness – pictures almost always add to a post.
Nat: they actually do in this neighborhood. But just on major holidays.
Robin: it makes hundreds of kids shrieking up and down the street a little more… relaxing, I think.
Turnbaby: that Devil chick was quite the trick or treater, too.
Kristin: bite. your. tongue.
In fact? Swallow it.
Clown: YOU LOVE IT!!!
B.E. Earl: heh
Malia: maybe that’s why people get bussed into our neighborhood for Halloween.
DemMom: I’m starting to think I’m the only one who trick or treats WITHOUT beer.
Sybil Law: I think Emma could take or leave the whole thing to be honest
A Whole Lot of Nothing: SLACKER!
Sheila (Charm School Reject): yep, a dripping sweaty mess.
Heather, Queen of Shake Shake: I know, it’s shameful!
melanie: yeah, me too. But don’t tell!
Hilly: maybe you should take more pictures.
yoshi: thank you!
Melissa: I feel like I should apologize in advance. You’re probably about to wade through a whole lotta crap. lol
twinkie: but Sully isn’t scary! My daughter uses her Sully doll at bed time even.
Trihsk: yes. Exactly.
Coal Miner’s Granddaughter: hehehehhe
Finn: I hear some people think it’s good.
Shash: thanks babe
Kathulhu: I think everyone should be blogging with that in mind.

I give those lazy bloggers a hallpass when either Harry Potter or Monsters Inc is involved.

Emma looks so happy to be Kitty!
I love Monsters, Inc. Maybe I should watch it again this weekend.

Wow! That is one awesome Harry Potter. I’m super impressed!
And, I’m guilty as charged with regards to posting cute photos today. Sorry to disappoint

Unless of course, your entire purpose of creating a blog was to make it very easy for friends and family who are genuinely interested in seeing family pics. Though, maybe I don’t have a blog, maybe I’m just using blogging software for other reasons.

So I’m not really sure what the blue fuzzy costume is, but I have some VERY important questions about it like What is it? Did you make it? Can you make one to fit a full-grown man? I kinda want one for next year…

You’re right, sully ISN’T scary but a motion sensor one stratigectly placed in the darkest room of your house by the stairs is.
He used to yell” RWOOAAAAARRRRR” then he’d say a cute other bit of phrases making fun of you for being startled. It was cute.
The element of surprise was what was scary.

They’re so cute! Sully is fantastically cute, but I have to admit that I’m a little partial to your little Harry Potter. He looks so spot-on!
