In Which We All Throw Our Hands Up In The Air And Cry “Finally! The End!”

by Miss Britt on July 4, 2008

I have spent the entire week trying to recap for you my 48 hours in New York City.

It’s OK. You don’t have to say it. Even I am getting bored with this.

But there is still so, so much more to tell you and so many more pictures and so I have decided to jam as much as I possibly can into one post and fly by a bunch and consider this the Cliff Notes of the last 36 hours I spent in The Greatest City In The World.

Ready? Set? GO!

Oh. Hey. By the way? That is us taking a subway back Uptown after seeing the World Trade Center site. Without seeing The Statue of Liberty. Apparently, the Statue of Liberty closes. Like - early.

ANYway. We ran back up to our hotel and Karl and Becky took naps like pussies. Then we got up, got back on the Subway, went to The Village and met Dawg, Poppy, Cissa, Robin and Neil. We ate dinner at some bar. Becky made out with some guy. Cissa and Robin bought some wigs. I DID NOT FIND THE GOLD TOE RING I SPENT ALL FUCKING WEEKEND LOOKING FOR. We went to a karaoke bar, everyone got pissy, we went home.

And that was the end of Saturday.

Sunday goes…

I love Monet. I am a huge fan of Picasso’s blue period. But a Degas pastel squeezes the breath from my lungs in an instant. I know. Such a girl.

And then we got in a cab and drove to the airport and kissed Becky goodbye and found out our flight was delayed three hours along with about 89 other flights which meant that there was no place to sit or stand in the entire airport but there was just enough floor space for me to sleep. On the floor. In Laguardia airport.

The. End.

Of the Cliff Notes.

If you’d like the full version, you should probably go here.

I’m glad you had a great trip and that it was everything you dreamed it to be.

I just loved the pictorial too!!!

  2. avitable July 4, 2008 12:06 am

I can’t believe you didn’t go into excruciating detail about the horror of the plane trip back!

  3. AmyD July 4, 2008 12:16 am

 You were too afraid to stand next to the gal from the gay pride parade, weren’t you?
    :nana:

Happy 4th of July beeeyotch! :heartbeat:

  4. Dave2 July 4, 2008 12:25 am

OMG! I have that same blue/teal/green outfit! How crazy is that?

  5. Poppy July 4, 2008 12:31 am

    I love Picasso.

I also love your recap posts, but probably because I’m anxious to LIVE THERE REAL SOON NOW, THANKS. :D

  6. NYCWD July 4, 2008 12:32 am

I can’t believe you didn’t go into excruciating detail of the horror of looking for NY pizza before the flight.

But I understand… NY wears on ya. Once you :heartbeat: us… now it’s more like :slaphead: . We understand.

    Really.

  7. Sybil Law July 4, 2008 1:04 am

    Awesome.
I’ve seriously enjoyed the pictorial recap.
But I am thrilled you got a purse in Chinatown!

  8. Karl July 4, 2008 1:24 am

Wow, you totally took the bitch way out. I’m jealous. I’m only through Day 2.

And I did NOT nap in the hotel. There was no sleeping, dammit! Though I wish there was.

  9. Winter July 4, 2008 1:26 am

Motley loved Chinatown when she was there. She saw Wicked on Broadway too. She still has not stopped talking about it 2 years later. Oh, and the reason Motley’s dad, who was born and bred in NYC, no longer lives there: roaches. He hates them. And he hates dirt. So he moved to California.

Great pics, Britt. Even the blurry ones were fun.

  10. metalmom July 4, 2008 10:45 am

You saw a ROACH in New York?

    NO WAY!!!

  11. Shelli July 4, 2008 10:57 am

It sounds awesome. I’m glad you had a great time. I wish I could have been with you. I have mixed feelings about whether I am happy or sad about not having a laptop while you were there so that I could have watched all the twittering and flickring (actually, I have seen most of your Flickr stuff because when I would steal a moment on the computer, I would check my flickr friends’ updates) and posting about it. Yes, I’m slightly jealous, but I know that we will meet again. Hopefully in my state so that I can show you all the wonderfulness that is Minnesota. Sans snow, of course. ;)

  12. hello haha narf July 4, 2008 10:57 am

let’s get one thing clear, i did NOT nap in the hotel. karl and i were horizontal on the bed for a bit, but that is because our room didn’t really afford the luxury that is comfortable seating. and i seem to remember you flopping down between us for a few moments as well. but there was no napping!

now, with that outta the way, your recap is much better than mine. although i did post a few cute pictures of you that aren’t blurry!

love ya, lady. it was phenomenal to be a part of brittcon 1. without a doubt, i had a blast.

    i love new york.
    :heartbeat:

OH! i almost forgot. i had a drink in my britty in the city glass. way cool. :martini:

I have a bunch of friends who marched in the Pride parade last Sunday.

    Did you see them? ;)

  14. sam July 4, 2008 11:44 am

    I :heartbeat: NY so hard!!

Love the pics no matter how blurry and grainy. :nana:

I love your little photo thing you do. Seriously, those are my favorite posts that you do and the past few days of reading here has been awesome! I’m glad you had a good time!

  16. maman July 4, 2008 12:56 pm

Looks like you had fun! I should try going into Manhattan without inlaws.. I think that would make it more fun

  17. Crys July 4, 2008 2:58 pm

i was in NY last year for the pride parade. those are some good times right there.

  18. Sarah July 4, 2008 4:25 pm

I love your little explanations on your pictures. I giggle a little bit every time I read them.

  19. Special K July 4, 2008 5:26 pm

It is amazing how you managed to see every little thing I always picture when I think of New York. Right down to the Gay parade! AWESOME!

  20. Karen MEG July 4, 2008 8:20 pm

LOVED this NYC tour… and I’m Asian, so still here.

I’m thinking about doing NYC with the husband so we can get re-acquainted. It’s our 15th wedding anniversary this year and we don’t know what to do with each other without the kids around anymore. How

When Ty-man and I were in NYC back in 2003, we walked EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE. Taxis were too expensive and I was too chickenshit to take the subways (we finally did, once, at night, and had the car to ourselves). It was November and dark by 5PM and by 5PM everyday, my ass was whipped and asleep in our hotel room.

Next NYC Brittcon? I’m going. Definitely!

  23. Shamelessly Sassy July 4, 2008 11:29 pm

I wish you had offered to buy the tranny in the last pics unitard. Think of all the photo ops that would evoke. It could be a whole series, ‘Miss Britt & the Tranny Unitard’. just tossing out some ideas. :)

  24. Anonymous July 5, 2008 1:46 am

Two things: I love, miss, and am envious of you since you got to go to New York.

AND PLEASE tell Jared HAPPY BIRTHDAY and his little brother loves him (I’m quite certain it’s his birthday!)

    Love you sis!

  25. Creed July 5, 2008 1:47 am

PS- ^^^ From Creed, not Anonymous!

  26. BlondeBlogger July 5, 2008 4:40 am

So glad you had a great time! I haven’t been to NY since I was 12 (I also ate in Chinatown, but thankfully no roaches). After reading all your adventures, I’m dying to go back now.

  27. Turnbaby July 5, 2008 12:48 pm

Last time I was in NYC we ate at a sidewalk cafe in little Italy –it was great.

I think you need at least a week next time you go back ;-)

Oh and I need to come along *grin*

  28. DutchBitch July 5, 2008 1:14 pm

So ehm… just so you know… when I win the lottery later this week (draw July 10 and there’s 25 million euro to win and you knów I am gonna win, right?) I am buying a time machine and making myself go back in time (well, except that I will be keeping the money) and am coming with you… ‘mkey?

  29. Anndi July 5, 2008 3:30 pm

So, that last pic… she spent time on a rooftop garden?

  30. Rich | Championable July 5, 2008 4:03 pm

I like how everyone keeps referring to the “gal” in the picture. That’s 100% MAN, baby! MAN!

    I think.

I ran my company out of an office on Canal Street for a while… it was both cool and a little much… I’m digging Little Korea, where I am now.

You know how I LOVE your picture essays… another job well done.

  31. Robin July 5, 2008 8:49 pm

I still haven’t finished my BrittCon entry yet…it’s too freaking long. :)

But yeah…had a blast. Still feeling all honored to be involved and shit. Nothing like more cool people to make NYC a little brighter for the weekend….

  32. Jake July 5, 2008 11:29 pm

Your posts about NYC make me wanna get back there as soon as I can. You can consider me one of those cliche college students that want to live in the city when they graduate.

But I WILL be on Broadway, babe!

  33. Sheila (Charm School Reject) July 7, 2008 11:16 am

    Bah. I missed this one.

I must admit, I laughed at the John Lennon pic. Whoops.

  34. martymankins July 15, 2008 4:00 pm

Great pics. Much less blurry then the ones in the previous NY blog post.
