They say that age is just a number.
They say that you are only as old as you feel.
I say, bullshit.
How old you are is how long it takes you to recover from a hangover.
And I am an old, old, crusty hag.

Oh, you’re being a bit harsh, aren’t you?
You’re not crusty!

It takes me a while to get over a hangover, always been like that.

I started getting hangovers when I hit 30. After 32, I stopped drinking. A week of a constant headache so isn’t worth a night of something I can’t (or don’t want) to remember!

You are silly!
And much love to you sugar.

:martini: :martini: :martini: Hahahahaha. It takes me approximately 3 days to recover from a tequila binge. Half a day for beer. I am not even 30 yet. I can’t imagine what it is going to be like when I am almost 40… :martini: :martini: :martini:

I’m getting lower back pain and my eyes are going. Worse signs than a bad hangover by far.

Best advice for short hangovers…keep on drinkin’!!!
And hydrate. Always hydrate. I try to put an ice-cube in every glass of whiskey I drink.

If you just keep drinking you won’t have hangovers.

Heh Heh Heh…. You saw Adam in the pool when he was trying to stay cool with a broken air conditioner, didn’t you. Sorry for your trauma but it would probably drive anybody to drink. I still respect you.
And I’m not just saying that on the hopes you are still a bit drunk and might show me your boobs. Probably, because that would be rude and not get me anywhere, right? Huh? You think?

it’s hell to get old isn’t it?

Old is not the new young, trust me on this.

OH FINALLY… now I can claim to be younger at something…

It took me something like twenty hours to recover from my last hangover. Then again I was on a two day bender, so I guess that’s to be expected.
Reply
I gave up getting drunk because I just can’t be bothered with the hangovers any more

I remember the good old days when you could stay out and party all night, go to work the next day and get your second wind and go out the next night. Oh … to be young again.
Stay hydrated with water or even more booze – it is the only way to stear clear of the hangover.

I’m afraid to find out how old I am, so I’ll moderate my drinking to avoid it.

I don’t drink alcohol. I just never acquired the taste for it.
Maybe that’s why I’m 43 but everyone thinks that I don’t look over 30??
Cheers! :martini:

i had like 2 glasses of wine and *i* feel hungover! i could be getting sick, though

:martini: I feel like I’ve been run over with a truck after 1 day at Universal with my kids….. so I think it’s really the kids that age you….. the alcohol just numbs the pain!!

I avoid hangovers as much as possible, takes me like a week to get over them now but in college I’d be out drinking again within 12 hours.

How long did it take? Because you are far younger than I am and if it takes you longer than it takes me I want to gloat. :nana:
Throw an old woman a bone…

I used to be able to drink any guy under the table and wake up the next day and start again. Now, I’m lucky not to feel wasted after 2 glasses of wine. If I have more than that, which of course I will, I’ll wake up with the hangover of a lifetime!
P.S. If you are old and crusty, I must be mummified!
Reply
The crusty part was your eyes when you woke up right? I feel bad for you although I’ve never had a hangover myself… even when I drank so much I blacked out and still drove myself home. Hair of the dog is good I hear…

I recover nicely as long as A. The drinks ingested did not contain high amounts of sugar and B. I did not mix. C would be don’t drink cheap beer, ever. Ugh. :dunce:

I hate when you realize how old you are by hangovers.
It happened to me a few years ago, and DAMN if I haven’t gotten drunk since. I want to stay young forever!

Oh you have my deepest sympathy! I so know what you mean! Back in the day I could work, go out until 3 or 4 a.m, go to work the next day nearly fine, and then go out again after work. I did that ALL WEEK LONG. Sometimes I’d take a nap before going back out, but hangovers? Unheard of!
Then again, since I’m a mom, it’s probably only fitting that I can’t keep up that pace anymore. Now, it’s a big deal if I drink at all. Also, my tolerance is way down. two drinks and I am buzzed.
Oh shit. I’ve become my mother! :wha:

I used to be able to drink five martinis a night and now a half of a glass of wine once every three months makes me want to hurl. I’ve become the ultimate in krust.

avitable: oh, believe me. I am positive there were parts of me that could be called crusty yesterday.
Jennifer: ugh. Does “more than 24 hours” exceed your definition of “a while”?
Becky: yeah, um, I’m pretty sure alcohol is not in my immediate future.
Turnbaby: silly. Heh. Well, maybe.
Mrs. F: yeah, I’m not 30 yet either.
WendyB: I don’t know – there is definitely a lot of back pain involved in a hangover. At least, there is for this one.
B.E. Earl: oh God. No. No way. I don’t know how people do that.
Jay: no, then I’d have a whole ‘nother set of problems.
Cris: showing boobs would require far too much energy.
Fantastagirl: it is. And tiring too.
Been there, Done that: hahahahhahaha, I am a believer!
AmyD: oh yeah – kudos to you on that.
Iron Fist: not a bender, exactly – and I’m at hour 36 or something. And still… would not consider myself “recovered” fully.
Dan: I’m pretty sure that’s where I am at.
MB: I have drank more water in the last 36 hours than I have in the last MONTH.
kapgar: you are a wise man.
hello haha narf: oh fuck you, woman. I have seen you handle your booze. You are half my age. Easily.
Dawn: GO YOU!! Seriously. That is awesome.
Crys: the bottle flu?
blondefabulous: no, no, I’m sure it was the booze in this case.
misi: 28 here, so I feel ya.
Robin: how in the hell did we do that?!?!
Finn: well, it’s Monday… and I’m still pretty groggy…
Mrs. Schmitty:yeah, I think I need to find a new outlet.
Winter: um, yes. The eyes. Exactly.
Kay: I hate you. Sorry.
themuttprincess: yeah, I finally understand that philosophy.
Sybil Law: I’ve NEVER had much of a tolerance. Ever.
Lisa: yeah, I don’t know when the hell this happened to me. *sigh*

I’m 37, which counts as old and crusty.
I don’t have hangovers.
Unless I drink tequila shots.

Dude…I was so hungover the first day of BlogHer that I almost puked at the keynote breakfast among a thousand women with laptops and cameras. Now THAT’s movitaton to keep your cookies down.

You’re probably swearing off alcohol right now… no more, ever. But by tomorrow you’ll be feeling OK and wondering where in the hell you put the corkscrew. Or flask.
Been there, done that…

19 years 7 months and 10 days since my last hangover. But who is counting…I feel (and look) younger than people 10 years my junior… So no alcohol won’t hurt ya..I know that for sure..

That is too funny, so all those university pub crawls are going to catch up to me?
But one important thing I learnt from all those parties is to drink a lot of water, it keeps the hangover away!!!

My own rigorous scientific research on the subject has led me to conclude that hangover recovery time is not a function of age, but simply of being out of practice.
The simple solution is to get hammered more often.
Reply
I think you can equate your “alcohol-induced hangover” age to the proof number on the alcohol you drank.
Glad you’re recovering.

I’m 23, and it often takes the whole day to get over my hangover. This never used to be the case. I have no idea what happened, but apparently, I can’t drink as much as I used to.
Doesn’t stop me trying though!

It takes me twice as long to recover from a hangover now that I’m in my mid-thirties.
But I damn sure am not going to stop drinking. I’m forced to be more responsible about it, which is a damn bore, let me tell you. I know if I go to bed and the room spins, I’ll pay hell for two days. That’s why I have to stop in plenty of time to sober up before going to bed.

Prepare yourself. The older you get it’s not just your liquor you can’t hold as well.

That is exactly why I only drink once maybe twice a year. I can’t do it anymore–least not like the lush I was in college.

If that’s the case, then I’m old and crusty (such a gross word) too, and I’m only 24. Warning: don’t ever talk to me or turn on the lights on Saturday morning.

In that case I’ve got one foot in the grave. A good night of drinking equals a bad day on my deathbed. :martini:
