Not blogging about not blogging

by Miss Britt on June 16, 2008

I absolute loathe reading posts where people have to explain why they aren’t blogging.

Besides, I can’t really tell you WHY, I haven’t been feeling it for the last few days.

But I can tell you that I spent three days with my best friend and not once did I find myself thinking “Oh this will make a GREAT post!”

Which, as any blogger will tell you, is a sign of the end times.*

*This is not in any way, shape or form, a veiled notice that I am quitting blogging.

I think we all need to take breaks and live life. AND not fear not making a post everyday.

Whew!! See me kicking ass on the double negatives?? I think I got MY blog topic for the night!! WOOHOOOOO

  3. Lisa June 16, 2008 12:09 am

You aren’t the only feeling like for the same exact reasons.

Glad you are enjoying good times with your friend though.

You know, I’ve been having a hard time feeling the blog thing since I came back Disney though because I enjoyed my time away from the computer sooooo much.

I just can’t give it up though…I still have so much to say ;)

  5. Jay June 16, 2008 12:46 am

I blogged about not blogging today. Well, there was other stuff there too, so that makes it okay, right?

  6. AmyD June 16, 2008 1:32 am

Well, now I feel better for struggling over an hour to come up with my pathetic excuse for a post today. :annoyed:

  7. Andria June 16, 2008 1:32 am

I just discovered that my website looks like ass in IE. So, I’m going to be ripping my hair out, and not blogging, while trying to fix it.
You know what drives me crazy about those “I haven’t blogged lately posts”? Those bloggers always claim that they are going to get better, blog again, and then two weeks later, repeat the blog post all over again.
I’m being bitchy. I think I need to to head to sleep.

    I’m sorry I haven’t been commenting lately.

  9. Selma June 16, 2008 2:30 am

We all need a bit of time out now and then. So glad you got to spend some time with your friend. I have no idea what I’m going to write about today. It’s 4.30PM in Oz and still, I got nuthin.’ Some days it just don’t come easy…….

  10. Iron Fist June 16, 2008 3:57 am

No worries, the only reason I’ve had something to write about recently was because I went on a bike ride without any pants. Hey, there’s an idea for you!

  11. Dawn June 16, 2008 6:37 am

Take a break if you have to, but don’t you DARE quit blogging. Seriously, I’d have to fly there and smack you until you start again.

    :heartbeat:

  12. Bucky June 16, 2008 6:39 am

No quitting allowed. There was enough of that last week.

Besides, I subscribed to your feed only 3 days ago…you don’t want to disappoint so quickly do you? :nana:

  13. kapgar June 16, 2008 6:57 am

What I find funny is when I’m hanging out with someone and not thinking about blogging and then they say, “you’d better not blog this.” Or, better yet, they say, “you should blog this.”

  14. Cissa Fireheart June 16, 2008 7:54 am

I think with Summer here, and all the crap that you have gone through, you are drained. Sometimes, stepping back and not blogging everyday is a good thing. I am glad you had an awesome visit with your friend. It sounded like you needed a time-out from the Blogoshere! (ina good way)

Besides, once BrittCon happens, you will have so much to blog about! It’s less than 2 weeks away! HOLY SHIT!! And hell yeah, I am going, I am I am I am….I just hope you don’t mind seeing me eat apples and hot dogs all the time! LOL

    Miss Britt
I have been an avid reader for some time. However, after listening to the radio shows today, I decided that I needed to join in on the fun.
Secure a plastic bag around Karl’s penis when he sleeps on your couch, that way your couch and floor stays dry…or buy a box of depends

  16. Turnbaby June 16, 2008 8:11 am

Did you just blog about not blogging?;-)

I’m so glad you had a good weekend with your friend.

  17. Nina June 16, 2008 8:23 am

I hear you. I don’t have much to say lately… oh, for the last few months… and I have sometimes committed the sin of blogging about not blogging. Take a break if you need it. I would if those gangsters over at Blog 365 would leave me alone. WAAAA. :heartbeat:

  18. anne June 16, 2008 8:34 am

Well, that’s me, Repentant Blogger. I’ve apologized in the past, only to repeat the process again  . I *just* blogged about how I was too tired to write a blog post for that day, but in my defense, I’m doing NaBloPoMo for June and am actually SUPPOSED to blog everyday… but being 7 months preggo, night shift work, and all the rest of life means you gotta prioritize, right? The post about not blogging served as my post for that day, so it qualified. :cheese:

But 30-post-in-30-days challenges aside, I think everyone needs to not apologize for taking time out to do life instead of beating themselves up with their laptops, trying to write something every day. Go live life and come back with something interesting say whenever you feel ready to say it!

  19. Jen June 16, 2008 8:57 am

Isn’t it great to spend time with a great friend and just take it all in! :) I’m glad you had a great time!

  20. Kris June 16, 2008 9:25 am

Oh shit. If I don’t blog on my own blog for a few days, I’m supposed to explain why? See how behind the times I am. Or maybe I’m ahead of the curve. *snerk*

  21. themuttprincess June 16, 2008 9:28 am

Sometimes going out and enjoying life is ok. Just remember to blog sometime.

    :cheese:

  22. Finn June 16, 2008 9:59 am

I had to pull today’s post out of my ass. I can’t get motivated either.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  23. kilax June 16, 2008 10:11 am

Unless you’ve been gone for more than a few weeks, an blogging absence doesn’t need to be warranted. You’re just living life! :)

  24. Lynda June 16, 2008 10:11 am

When I stopped blogging every day, I started to realize there were just some things I didn’t want to blog about. :D

  25. Queen of Shake Shake June 16, 2008 11:08 am

Is this a blog post about not blogging? Eh, who cares as long as you are making fun of yourself for it, right? The end of the times indeed.

  26. RW June 16, 2008 11:41 am

It is not a sign of the end times. It is a sign of proportion.

  27. Poppy June 16, 2008 1:40 pm

    OMG MY EYEBALLS HURT.

That is what NYC fun does to me, but only after I leave the state. My new solution will be to not leave the state. Can you please hurry up and make it Brittcon?

  28. Kay June 16, 2008 1:52 pm

There ya go! You found something to blog about!

  29. Kate June 16, 2008 1:55 pm

Glad you got to enjoy your time with your friend.

I’m fairly new here, so if you stop blogging it gives me a chance to catch up on past posts. LOL!

  30. Kris June 16, 2008 3:56 pm

Wait a minute. If I blog about not blogging, isn’t that blogging?

    I are so cornfused.

  31. Sarah June 16, 2008 5:18 pm

Good to know that you got to enjoy so much time with your friend!

  32. Steph June 16, 2008 7:28 pm

    You are missed.

Perhaps you could create blog-worthy situations. For instance; grab yourself a bottle of Thunderbird or Night Train. Get in line at the grocery store. Then, before the cashier checks your fine alcoholic selection, take off your pants.

    Boom. Blog post.

    Don’t thank me, I’m a giver.

  33. Stephanie June 16, 2008 8:44 pm

I totally commend you! It’s pretty awesome that you did this the same day I did for like…nearly everything online that I do! I realized yesterday that I think in terms of how something would like photographed & that I needed to STOP. Nothing in life should be viewed through a LENS before your own EYES see it first.

  34. othurme June 16, 2008 9:43 pm

Taking a break from your blog is so May of 2008. I can’t believe how far behind the times you are.

  35. Coal Miner's Granddaughter June 16, 2008 10:31 pm

Woo hoo! Excellent that you had a great time with your friend! Sorry the movie you saw today was shitty. And? Blog when you feel like it. No pressure. Be here when you get inspired!

  36. Stephanie June 16, 2008 10:36 pm

    :help:
I can’t get back in the flow either.
Let’s just drink Brittini’s and sing Prince Karaoke m’kay? :disco:
