Oh my God, I am so exhausted.
Funny thing about living in Vacation Land - you don’t do shit until other people are on vacation. In your house.
It’s been 10 days since this whole Month of The House Guest began - which means we still have about three weeks to go. And good God, I’m never going to make it. I’ve already done Universal, the beach twice, the state park, some other stuff I can’t remember because holy shit did I mention how tired I was?
Anyway, not the point.
Point is - I’m a loser.
How big of a loser you ask?
I can’t even sunburn properly.

how many more times will you have to do universal and the beach?
sorry about your burn, my pale friend. i know all too well the dangers of over exposure. (to the sun. get your mind out of the gutters, people.)
you probably don’t want advice, but i will jump on the aloe bandwagon. in addition i will also suggest plenty of water. drink more water than you think humanly possible. seriously it really does help.

The best thing to put on a burn is apple cider vinegar. It takes the heat and the sting out of it. And for the record “Ouch” that looks like it hurts.

avitable: the one that screams “Oh my God it hurts to move?” Thanks, dick.
Karen Sugarpants: I know, I need a plant though - I hate the gel stuff it comes in.
Hilly: no, but I’ve been putting burn cream and vinegar and lotion and milk and everything else on it. And we ALLLL have it.
Karl: yeah, I know. It aint pretty.
bluepaintred: the sad thing is, we all had lotion. Just not enough often enough, apparently.
hellohahanarf: ummm… I think two more times over the next couple weeks. I think.
And yes, it is. Can you tell it’s dirty?
Marissa: yeah, I think I’m wearing a skirt today with a baggy t-shirt. LOL I should be cute.
Treasia: yep, that’s what we’ve been doing. Although it’s not helping as much as I remember it helping as a kid.
Penelope: probably not this time. It’s pretty bad so it’s probably going to peel.
Selma: I do need to remember to reapply lotion.
BlondeBlogger: yeah, that part is nice.

Besides aloe I have some advice from a fair skinned girl who has never really believed Oh you can’t tan and spent countless hours getitng burned and suffering…. Baby powder on your sheets makes them more comfortable against your skin when you go to sleep. Oatmeal baths also neutralize the sting.
Sorry for your luck!

Msbatman: oh yeah, the oatmeal bath clogged one of our tubs! LOL
debkitty: oh that’s a great idea!
ADW: yeah, I try not to use that aloe gel stuff because it seems to dry your skin out worse.
Britt’s Mom: is that what happened to you?
March 17th, 2008 at 9:10 am
I totally sympathize.
Banana Boat makes a great lotion that has Aloe and Vitamin E in it - the only downside that I’ve seen to it is that when you apply too much of it, the damaged skin just kind of comes off all at once, and that’s kind of gross, but the lotion feels great on your skin.

And I’ve been there down that with the uneven, inaccurate application of sunscreen. I swear I just need to fill my tub with sunscreen and bathe it in before I go any where.

Squeaky Wheel: I should look into that. I haven’t been able to find anything with aloe in it that does dry your skin out and make it feel crunchy.
Finn: OMG why didn’t I think of that?? That is brilliant! I need to get that colored stuff STAT!
Mr. Fabulous: I’ve been thinking about this all day.

On the other hand, I love you. And I don’t want you to be worried.

On a REALLY BAD burn you might have to Noxzema daily but it really works. Back when my nephew was 2 months old, he got an indirect sunburn (I swear he was in the shade ALL DAY.) My sis was crying that he was going to be taken away for child abuse
so we Noxzema-ed him and the next day it was gone.
I’ve done it with every sunburn. Make sure you also lotion with something that doesn’t have alcohol listed in the first 5 ingredients. (The alcohol will just dry out your skin even more and make it crack and be VERY painful.) Aquaphor and Eucerin are good; Aquaphor is what they give to cancer patients who get radiation burns.
Whewww, that was a lot. I feel as if I should tell you to take 2 Advil and wait for my bill

I have much sympathy for you - I have two skin tones - ghostly white and red. I do not tan.
Therefore - I burn (I burn very very well.) Go to the doctor, tell him/her that you want some silvadene (if you are not allergic to sulfa). It’s what they put on burn patients. It has a topical pain reliever in it - and is awesome - especially for a burn like yours! OUCH!
