It’s… um… better… kinda… sorta…

by Miss Britt on November 13, 2007

OK, fine! We’ll do a hair update.

For those of you who missed the Hate Crime Against Blondes - of which I was a victim, a quick review. (Although really, unnecessary. I think everyone had something to say about the hair. You guys wanna talk politics? Oh, no, so busy. But hair? Y’all have some passion about the hair. Ahem.)

We began our journey like this:

Vogue

(And can I just go on record as saying that, contrary to what this looks like, I do not sit around in my bathroom doing Tyra Faces in the mirror? I was showing my roots. Really.)

Then, we went into a salon and said “warm me up, give me auburn streaks, please”. And in Floridian speak that seems to translate to “youth is for pussies.”

So we got:

Pissed

Yeah. Not happy. As we’ve discussed.

ANYway, I call salon, I explain the travesty that has befallen me (is that possible? can a travesty befall you?) and that something needs to be done.

I met Lisa. Lisa is a doll and will probably be doing my hair from now on. I mean, maybe. I don’t know. I was so in love with her when she took the gray out of my hair, it’s possible I’m moving too quickly. I don’t know if she feels the same. She didn’t flinch when I hugged her and was only slightly put off by the leg humping…

Oh. Heh. Excuse me.

They “color cleansed” my hair to wash out all of the dark, dark brown and the ashy, ashy gray (dude, even the hair stylist said I was ashy).

THEN, they rehighlighted it. Adding more blonde to what was now officially “auburn” and not “brown as fuck” hair. YAY!

And THEN, they added toner, to “even it all out” and “calm down the blonde” a little.

And now we have….

After After After

But wait!

Shoot Me From The Side

Yeah. So. It’s lighter. And more red than brown. And… maybe a little more blonde.

And I’m kind of wishing I would have had a vote on that whole “toner” step.

I dunno. I guess that’ll have to do. For 6-8 weeks. With heavy shampooing in the mean time.
Yay! Yay! Yay!

The hair looks great now. I like it alot!

I’d like to get the color cleanse and recolor but I’m afraid that I’d go bald from all the chemicals (then my pointy skull would make me look even dorkier!)

  2. Maria November 13, 2007 8:10 am

 Oh I like this even better. Looks great.

  3. Kristin Fogle November 13, 2007 8:26 am

I like it……but it still isn’t YOUR hair! It looks good but so strange to see you with such dark hair.

    I love you anyways!

  4. Kimberly November 13, 2007 8:42 am

It does look better. And I’m loving that top!

  5. sam November 13, 2007 9:00 am

    :sex014: Yer sexy!

Yeah, Id dry hump Lisa too. I really like it!

And your top is very purty!!;)

  6. DeannaBanana November 13, 2007 9:01 am

The hair looks so much better! And the top is awesome. You wanna have lunch tomorrow?

  7. avitable November 13, 2007 9:40 am

I just think you should have shaved it all off so at least the curtain matched the drapes. :D

  8. themuttprincess November 13, 2007 9:51 am

It is lighter, and has more color. I hope that you have some good conditioner on hand!!! Just to be safe.

I LOVE IT> course, I liked it before. More blonde does suit you!

    :martini: :martini: :martini:

  9. t November 13, 2007 9:56 am

hahaha. it does look a lot better. congratulations. (i secretly wasn’t a fan of the brown/gray/something.)

  10. Victoria November 13, 2007 10:17 am

Nice! All three are great–the hair, shirt and baby!
I just scheduled a trim–at the same salon, I’ve always gone to, but my stylist moved, so new stylist. Very scary!

  11. Geeky Tai-Tai November 13, 2007 10:28 am

I love the color! It really complements your skin tone. I like the lipgloss you’re wearing in the 2nd picture too.

  12. wafelenbak November 13, 2007 10:35 am

I too think it looks great! The difference is subtle but definitely blonder.
And your daughter is A-Dorable! :)

  13. turnbaby November 13, 2007 10:42 am

MUCH better–still not “You” but better. And yeah –with you on the whole toner thing.

A highlight enhancing shampoo will help. I use Sheer Blonde. Get the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for platinum blondes.

My stylist who skillfully gave me a two color weave of luscious highlights yesterday was appalled about what happened to you.

  14. Hilly November 13, 2007 10:58 am

It looks so much better just with that gentle lift! And yanno….you look much happier in your pictures now too :).

  15. Julia November 13, 2007 11:04 am

    Kid: extremly sweeeeet :heartbeat:
    Top: very hot :ohgreatone:
Hair: better then the dark version … much better!

    Greets Julia

  16. Miss Britt November 13, 2007 11:08 am

metalmom: yeah, I’m a little nervous about waking up one day to a pillow full of hair that just said That Is It!

    Maria: well thank you :-)

Kristin: dude, I’ve had darker hair before. Numerous times. In fact, I’m pretty sure you’ve SEEN me with darker hair.

Kimberly: thanks! Better is, well, better.

sam: plus she was nice - which is a bonus in the stylist department.

DeannaBanana: yes! Although now what will I wear? Dang it!

    avitable: um. wow.

themuttprincess: yeah, I’ve been using my Be Curly shampoo and conditioner but I’m thinking I am going to need to get me some Damage Control ASAP.

    t: (I not so secretly wasn’t either ;))

Victoria: how bad can they screw up a trim? right?

    Geeky Tai-Tai: thanks! It’s - uh - Pink!

wafelenbak: well, she’s seen cuter pics as well - but thanks!

turnbaby: maybe your stylist should organize a Stylist Strike in my honor. We won’t color until her hair grows back normal!

Hilly: LOL, there were very few “happy brown” pics to choose from.

  17. Amanda November 13, 2007 11:09 am

    oo pretty

  18. Miss Britt November 13, 2007 11:09 am

Julia - posting at the same time as me

Thank you! Thanks! And Yep! :D

  19. Miss Britt November 13, 2007 11:11 am

Sheesh! I keep leaving everyone out! What did you all get together and go.. post… NOW!??

Amanda - and I got it on sale!

(dammit, why do I always do that!!)

  20. jinxi November 13, 2007 11:27 am

:lmfao: Glad you are smiling again.. Lisa did good, you can definitely see the highlights now! YAY :heartbeat:

  21. DeannaBanana November 13, 2007 11:32 am

Curtains and Drapes being one and the same, I dont give a shit WHAT you wear to lunch, so long as the carpet isnt visible. Capice? :dazed:

  22. Samantha_K November 13, 2007 11:49 am

Love the cute top and the cute kid. Hooray for the hair rescue!

  23. NYCWD November 13, 2007 11:58 am

Your curtains don’t match your drapes??? Are you having an interior decorating foopah as well???

I like it better… I think the world is less likely to implode upon itself now.

  24. DeannaBanana November 13, 2007 12:34 pm

Also, when did cute kid get her hair cut? Cause suddenly she looks older. Albeit very cute.

  25. AmyD November 13, 2007 1:52 pm

Oooo, it’s very pretty. Closer to what I was describing originally just a little darker… I actually like it and it goes so well with winter, you know? At the very least it is a vast improvement.

Still… with that top and your taste in shoes - you could go vampire black on the hair and no one would notice! :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

  26. Honeybell November 13, 2007 2:08 pm

Gorgeous. You, the hair, the top, the kid.

  27. annie November 13, 2007 2:27 pm

That’s a lot better, it seems like that is what you were trying to explain to do the first time.
What’s the color cleanse? Is that like the “Color Ooops” stuff? Does that stuff work?

  28. Gecko Rock November 13, 2007 2:30 pm

Wow!!! You look a whole 20 years younger!

Is that your mom standing next to you with the camera?

  29. Miss Britt November 13, 2007 2:42 pm

jinxi: well I’m glad you can see them. Ultimately, that’s what matters.

DeannaBanana: so my Britney spears outfit is out then?

Samantha_K: hooray for no more gray!

    NYCWD: finally, I can relax!

DeannaBanana: ummmm…. 2 weeks ago maybe? she can see now, which is an improvement.

AmyD: do you think it still says winter if I’m wearing capris and sandals?

Honeybell: I need a bow smiley I think.

annie: I think it is like that Oops stuff. It basically takes some of the color out. And yes, it works AWESOMELY.

Gecko Rock: why yes, yes its. :D

  30. Krystle November 13, 2007 2:54 pm

DEFINITELY like this alot better! Cute top, too by the way… and, cute little girl. :)

  31. RW November 13, 2007 3:15 pm

I liked your hair darker. Just sayin.

  32. Bonnie B. November 13, 2007 3:26 pm

Hello Miss Britt! I’m new here - came over from ADW’s “Hooters” blog and I am enjoying your blog so much. I’m glad I got here just in time for the enormous hair controversy thingie because I too am contemplating a change in my hair. And now, I’m scared shitless. So thanks for that!!

  33. Dee November 13, 2007 3:38 pm

HEAPS better! I’m not afraid to say it :D I think this one is actually a good look and it has definitely brought warmth back into your hair. And it makes a massive difference that you’re actually happy about it.

    I can highly recommend Joico’s K-Pak for damage control…

  34. sevesteen November 13, 2007 4:24 pm

Posts like this series are one more thing that makes me glad I’m a man. My instructions to the barber: “Take most of it off, leave me barely enough to part”. I can spend $10, (which includes a substantial tip) and worst case, I have to use gel for a few weeks.

(I like the after pictures better, but mostly because you’re smiling in them)

  35. Wicked H November 13, 2007 4:30 pm

    You. Look. Mahvelous!!!

    Darling!

  36. Kristin Fogle November 13, 2007 4:39 pm

LOL okay maybe it’s not as dark as it appears, and ya I am sure I have seen you with darker hair, in fact when I met you I think it was pinkinsh or someting! I don’t know I thought that you all were a strange bunch of chics! Singing that country song!
    Love ya!

  37. Rich | Championable November 13, 2007 5:57 pm

I think you look pretty fab.

As always, my favorite part of this kind of post is when you draw arrows. Masterful.

  38. Kelley November 13, 2007 7:01 pm

….and this is why I will wait to see my fabulous Sebastian. I will follow him to the ends of the earth to ensure that he is the only person ever to touch my hair.

Your looking fab now, but the brown wasn’t so bad was it???

  39. CP November 13, 2007 9:30 pm

    We can be friends again.

    CP.

  40. Peggy November 14, 2007 2:44 am

I love the hair now. Really!

  41. Lola Magnolia November 14, 2007 6:04 am

I went blond for a year. Let’s just say, some people shouldn’t be blond. You, on the other hand, look nice with both hair colors. I’ve always hated people like you! ;)

  42. Miss Britt November 14, 2007 7:31 am

    Krystle: me too!

RW: yes, well, with the exception of Mrs. RW, you obviously like things that make people cranky.

Bonnie B. well hello to you too!

    Take pictures with you!!!

Dee: I’ve never heard of Joico. Must google.

sevesteen: wait until we have the PMS series. You’ll be glad, and afraid - all at once.

Wicked H: :heartbeat: you have no idea how sentimental it makes me when you say things like that :heartbeat:

Kristin: pink? really? I thought it was bleached when we met.

Rich: yeah, you know anyone looking for a mad arrow drawer - let me know. ;-)

Kelley: it was very, very, very not met at all. Wait for Sebastian.

    CP: thank God!

Peggy: thanks, I can live with it anyway.

Lola Magnolia: I was purple once. I can’t do purple, if that helps.

  43. Selma November 14, 2007 8:25 pm

Sorry, I can’t type for laughing about the leg humping…..
Your hair looks great, by the way!

  44. QofD November 15, 2007 1:56 pm

Uh hello? Kid is MUCHO CUTE!

But ahem. Anyway. I am so jealous of your hair. You have those gorgeous curls. And you look good with any color. Damn you. Damn you. Damn you.

(Can your hair come out and teach my hair how to play nice? Maybe show it how a real curl looks so my hair stops doing the whole “Meh, I’m not gonna be straight but I’m not gonna be curly either” thing?)

  45. Miss Britt November 15, 2007 2:03 pm

Selma, I do look pretty funny when I leg hump.

QofD - Aveda. Be Curly. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

  46. Heather November 19, 2007 4:09 pm

I’m one of the not so pod-people you met, lol. And if this is the gorgeous hair i was envying all night…do share who your new stylist is. I LOVE your hair. wanted to tell you all night, but between chasing kids & stuffing my face, forgot. and is that NATURAL curl ??? i don’t think i can be anymore green. my. hair. just. sits!

  47. Miss Britt November 19, 2007 4:22 pm
