You know what is my favorite thing about Mother’s Day?
Level playing field.
All of us. Whether we’ve got 12 kids or one. Whether we’ve been doing this forEVER, or are expecting our first. Whether we’re homeschoolers, urban goddesses, potty training, anti-TV, pro-pacifier, sleep sharing, nurse them till their walkers, frank talking, organic food making, Happy Meal serving, or once in a while we even cuss in front of the little bastards….
This is our day. Evenly. No one gets more or less claim on Mother’s Day.
If you are a mom, in any shape or form, just doing the very best that you can – TODAY, that is good enough.
Tomorrow? Tomorrow we’ll go back to judging and bashing and criticizing one another in a desperate attempt to justify our own beliefs and shortcomings. Tomorrow we’ll take sides again.
But today, we’re finally, at long last, just good enough. Today everyone agrees that we ALL deserve this.
