It’s about 9:30am.  So far, so good.

I got my first official birthday present yesterday actually.  UPS had delivered a much needed DVD player.  Mine had become seriously unreliable and I had decided to put off buying a new one until sometime later this spring.  So really, thank you for that.

My mom called me this morning to tell me The Story Of The Day I Was Born - which is a family tradition that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of.  She also called to sing to me.  She’s insistent about the singing.

I have also received two text messages already.  A simply “Happy Birthday” from one of my oldest and closest friends, and one from the baby brother.  His read “I know you’re busy, but I wanted to say I love you and Happy Birthday.  Ur the best sister ever & I wouldn’t be where I am w/out you.  Love you, happy b’day”.

How freaking sweet is that?  I mean, I’m not sure that I want to be held responsible for “where he’s at” right now, considering he still hasn’t turned in his college applications… but still.  Talk about making my whole day.

AND I’ve already gotten lots of happy birthdays from all of you guys.  Which, silly as it sounds, makes me smile that happy goofy grin that makes people walk by and ask “what the hell are you doing on your computer that you have that look on your face?!?!”  Thanks for that, truly.

So, like I said, so far - so good.

Oh wait - are you wondering why you don’t see anything about the husband here?  Yes, well, to be fair, he did come into the bedroom before leaving and say…

“Happy Birthday honey.  Do you need me to like, sing to you or something?  Or are you good?”

*sigh* When will this man learn?  Seriously.

Anyway, I’m off to enjoy my birthday.  YOU can celebrate National Britt Day by soaking up even more of me…. here.
