Miss Britt - Dignity Is Overrated

If there is a worst post ever list - nominate me

I’m trying not to feel overwhelmed.  And behind.  And like I’m juggling a million freaking glass balls, just waiting for one to drop and shatter and cut my little piggies.

Because you know one will.

With laundry to do, children to “nurture”, two drill team routines that need serious help in the next four weeks before state, a CCD class that’s nearing their first sacrament, a dining room to finish before a Thanksgiving dinner to host, a Christmas list to make and shop for, 5 sales to close before the month slips away anymore….

…something’s bound to slip through.

I hate feeling like this, like I’m behind on everything and I’m not doing anything well because I’m just trying to keep my head above water.  And truth be told, that’s a pretty shitty analogy because I suck at swimming.  Or rather, that’s a pretty appropriate analogy because - I suck at swimming.

Oh, and I have to schedule a major ass chewing on a “friend” sometime today.  Because being the designated fuck-with-someone bag that you pull out whenever you or your friends are in the mood to be dicks?  Yeah.  Not cool.

Crap.  And now I’m rambling.  My husband told me this morning I should write a book.  I think I’ll print off this post and give it to him to support my theory that “there’s no fucking way I could pull that off”.

Sorry kiddies.  Check out my renter.  Or… for that matter… another side of me.

I’ll be better tomorrow.

That feeling is why I just stopped doing all of that “holiday” shit years ago, Now I can eat relax an enjoy myself.

    Good luck!

  2. AmyD Says:

Juggling along with you… and I know exactly how you feel. :???:

  3. Mist 1 Says:

You don’t have to nurture children. That’s what the Disney channel is for.

  4. The CEO Says:

Take your kids to the polls and vote today. You can teach them to be responsible citizens, and be a great role model all at the same time!

  5. avitable Says:

I can understand. I have those days, too. You need a day of relaxation with no kids or husband where you can watch TV, drink wine, and eat chocolate.

  6. J. Says:

    We need a cook,
    and a cleaner,
    and a nanny,
    and a pool boy,
    and a pool ….

    Heh.

  7. Dayngr Says:

Sounds like another typical day in my life. Except today we’re having our house tented for termites on top of everything else going on. Joy!

  8. Dawn (webmiztris) Says:

    remember, honey….

    PRINCE, PRINCE, PRINCE

    :D

  9. Miss Britt Says:

David Barnes: yeah, but the memories and stuff - it’s worth it. Or at least later, I’ll tell myself it was worth it. ;-)

AmyD: what was that? you’re coming over this weekend to help paint? Awwww… thanks!

Mist 1: LOL, yeah but then you have a whole ‘nother set of problems and to do lists to worry about.

The CEO: I voted a few days ago. I’m registered and signed up for an absentee ballot - thank God.

avitable: I know, this nanny thing has it’s down side: I can’t send everyone off for the day and play hookie from work. :-D

    J.: exactly.

Dayngr: I try not to let this feeling be “typical” - usually I cope better.

Dawn (webmiztris): ahhhhh…. just what the doctor ordered!

“Are we gonna let de-elevator Bring us down
    Oh, no Let’s Go!”

Thanks babe, I needed that ;-)

  10. Barb Says:

OMG–I am so with David Barnes. Not like we’ve ever hosted Thanksgiving or anything like that (I burn water, ‘k?), but all the Christmas cards, etc., etc., it was just too overwhelming so one year I decided that was it: no more Christmas cards. I understand about the memories, though, and maybe it’s different because you have kids.

Do you make lists? I do, because I LOVE crossing shit off of them!!!!

  11. Mr. Fabulous Says:

Be good, fly low, stay cool.

Okay, I totally don’t know what that means but I like to say it.

    Hang in there!

  12. jane Says:

What you’re saying sounds so familiar. I remember feelling overwhelmed too when my kids were involved in so much.
I’m going to make 2 suggestions & hopefully you won’t mind..
    1) Realize that it’s not humanly possible to do “everything” perfect & just accept that you’ll do your best & that’s just that. You owe NO apologies.
    2) If possible, can you delegate ANYTHING to someone else?

One day, you’re going to look back at these years & wonder how the hell you ever made it thru. Then you’re going to realize the impossible tasks that were asked of you. Just do your best sweetie, I think you are absolutely wonderful!
